The magnificent white Mute Swans of North Cove take flight in groups of one or two breeding pairs for their favored feeding grounds in the main body of the cove or farther out to coastal and river waters.

These artworks were born in the slanted dawn sunlight of secluded coastal coves. My goal was to capture the moment at dawn when these large waterbirds begin their new day along Connecticut's sun-warmed shores. This moment inspires me and resonates with an almost 19th-century adventurer’s appreciation.

Mute Swans originated in Europe and Asia. The Atlantic Flyway population is thought to be the result of several hundred swans transplanted to the lower Hudson River Valley between 1910 and 1912. Individual swans weigh an average of 25 pounds and have a wingspan of 7-8 feet. Mute Swans have a distinctive characteristic curved neck held in an S-shape.

I composed, photographed, processed and printed each art print to my exacting standards.

My limited-edition fine art prints are pigment on heavyweight, acid-free museum-quality cotton paper. Pigments are guaranteed colorfast for more than 100 years, longer with careful handling.
